Julie Ryan Memorial Scholarship

Julie Ryan was an integral part of Greater Rochester Regional Odyssey of the Mind Association for many years. Julie was instrumental in bringing the program to the Webster Central School District, where she served as the district coordinator for 15 years. She also served as Regional Director for the Greater Rochester Regional Odyssey of the Mind Association for six years. Julie added a quiet grace to everything she did. She was constantly advocating for students, not only during her tenure with Odyssey of the Mind but also as a teacher in the Webster Central School District. 

Julie competed in the Odyssey of the Mind program as a student in Wellsville, NY. This program became a huge influence in her life. 

Julie was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017. She fought a courageous battle, but sadly passed away from the disease in February 2019 at the age of 48. She worked with our organization right up to the end, and as a memorial asked for donations in her name to be directed to GRROOTMA.

The Greater Rochester Regional Odyssey of the Mind Association annually awards a $250 scholarship to a high school senior who has participated in Odyssey of the Mind. Applications for this scholarship open each fall.
